Following the controversial closure of Llanafan Primary School by Ceredigion County Council in 2014 the building and grounds subsequently reverted to Trawsgoed Estates Limited in March 2015.
The directors subsequently applied for planning consent to convert the school building into residential holiday accommodation, principally for the use of Lisburne family members and friends. Work on the building is due to start during Summer 2020.
John Vaughan of Trawsgoed Estates Limited said: "Despite best efforts by the local community to keep the school open in 2014, the closure came as an unpleasant surprise and it will be much missed. However, the future use of the building for holiday accommodation by the Lisburne family and others will provide a future for the property and its long-term care and maintenance".
The school was built by Ernest Augustus Vaughan, 4th Earl of Lisburne in 1856 and was formerly known as the Earl of Lisburne's School. It is Listed Grade II and has a number of interesting interior features as well, externally, a stone coronet and crest.
